What is the difference between ULPA factory certificate and leak detection report?

These two documents often appear at the same time in the arrival information, but their purposes are different, and the absence of either one may affect the acceptance.

The certificate of conformity indicates the identity of the product and the conclusion of the inspection - 'What is this, it has been inspected'. The leak detection report provides the test conditions and integrity results - 'how it was tested and what was measured'. One is identification and the other is process record. The information content and purpose of the two are different.

What basic information is included on the certificate?

The certificate usually contains basic identification information about the product.

Models and specifications. What is the name of the product, what size, and what grade. This is the first layer of information to verify the order and the physical object.

serial number. Serial number or batch number. Only with numbers can we correspond to specific physical objects, and only then can there be a basis for subsequent tracing.

Quantities and test conclusions. How many units are there in this batch and whether they are qualified.

Date and signature. Production date or inspection date, supplier’s signature and seal.

However, the word 'qualified' on the certificate does not itself carry the test conditions. It does not tell you how much air volume was tested, what method was used to measure it, or which locations were scanned. This information is in the leak detection report.

What should a leak detection report include?

The focus of the leak detection report is the detection process and data.

Test methods. What aerosol, what instrument, and what criteria are used. These determine whether the data can be used for acceptance.

Test conditions. Test air volume and operating status. There is no basis for comparison with data out of working conditions.

Scan range and results. Which locations were scanned, whether any abnormalities were found, where the abnormal locations were, and how to handle and recheck.

Correspondence. The report should be able to correspond to a specific product number or installation location. With only a summary report and no unit-by-unit records, it is impossible to trace the integrity of each product.

When missing items are reported, they should be supplemented according to project requirements. Merely relying on the 'qualified' conclusion on the certificate cannot replace the function of the leak detection report. For the implementation method of specific testing items, please refer to the relevant instructions of ULPA factory testing.

How to arrange the delivery list

When accepting the goods, it is recommended to check the information according to the list.

Product Identity Data. Certificate of conformity, packing list, confirm model, quantity and serial number.

Test data. Efficiency reports, resistance data, leak detection records. These should correspond to the physical item numbers.

Drawings and dimensional information. Frame size, sealing structure, installation direction. These are used during installation and subsequent replacement.

Installation and maintenance instructions. Compression requirements, replacement methods, and precautions.

This information should be clear at the inquiry stage. Waiting until the goods are delivered before discussing whether to provide them will easily delay acceptance. involving Different grades of HEPA/ULPA air filter products may have different testing data requirements, and the delivery list should also be listed separately by grade and project requirements.

Project judgment example

A certain batch of ULPA arrived with only one certificate and no leak detection report.

If the contract requires leak detection on a unit-by-unit basis, this certificate is not enough to complete the acceptance. It is necessary to obtain the corresponding leak detection records from the supplier to confirm: the correspondence between the test conditions, scanning range, results and product numbers.

If the supplier can only provide batch summary reports and the project requires unit-by-unit traceability, this means that the data does not meet the requirements. The processing method can be to complete the data one by one, or to recheck according to the agreed method. Don't accept incomplete information just because you're on schedule. Tracing it will be more troublesome when problems arise later.

Supporting FFU fan filter unit or For the filter element used in the fan filter unit at the EFU equipment end , the corresponding relationship between the complete machine test and the filter element test must also be clearly stated in the delivery list to avoid omissions.
