ULPA (Ultra Low Penetration Air) filter is a type of ultra-high-efficiency filter used in high-clean air treatment systems. It mainly filters fine particles in the air through high-efficiency filter materials and reasonable folding structures.
Compared with ordinary air filters, ULPA filters are usually used in clean environments with higher requirements for particle control. U15, U16, and U17 belong to the ULPA grade range, and their efficiency evaluation is usually related to filter testing and grading systems such as EN 1822 and ISO 29463. The specific grade should be confirmed based on actual test methods and test reports.
Aili Industrial ULPA filters can be configured with different filtration levels, sizes, frames and sealing structures according to the actual installation space and system requirements, so that the filters can be matched with equipment such as FFU, HEPA BOX, clean sheds, and clean room air supply systems.
ULPA filters usually consist of filter materials, frames, folding structures, sealing materials and protective nets. Different projects can choose the corresponding configuration according to the installation structure and clean environment requirements.

The common U15, U16, and U17 grades of ULPA filters are evaluated based on MPPS (most penetrating particle size) related test results under the EN 1822/ISO 29463 system. Therefore, the efficiency value at a fixed particle size cannot simply be used to replace the filter grade.

Aili Industrial ULPA filters can be selected in U15, U16, U17 and other grades based on the project cleanliness level, system air volume, equipment resistance and installation space.
High-level filtering configuration → U15, U16, U17 optional
Select the corresponding filtration level according to the requirements of the clean environment, and determine the filter material and structure based on the actual system parameters.
Closely pleated filter material structure→increases effective filtration area
By folding the filter material, a larger effective filtration area is formed in a limited installation space, which is suitable for applications with limited internal space in clean rooms and equipment.
A variety of sealing structures → adapted to different installation methods
Gasket seal, liquid tank seal and knife edge seal structure can be configured to match different filter installation frames.
Aluminum profile frame → suitable for installation of clean equipment
The existing product information on the page uses aluminum profile frames and undergoes surface oxidation treatment. Other frame materials can also be confirmed according to project requirements.
Glass fiber and PTFE filter media→Select according to working conditions
For regular projects, glass fiber filter materials can be selected based on filtration level, air volume and resistance requirements; for projects with special requirements for materials and resistance, the PTFE filter material solution can be further confirmed.
Filter size can be customized → match different equipment
In addition to common sizes, non-standard designs can be made based on FFU, HEPA BOX, clean room ceilings and internal installation dimensions of equipment.
What is the difference between ULPA filter and HEPA filter
HEPA and ULPA are both high-efficiency air filters, but their corresponding filtration levels and application requirements are different.
Simple understanding:
HEPA → Focus on meeting higher levels of particle filtration requirements
ULPA → For higher level particle control needs
In the relevant classification system of EN 1822/ISO 29463, H13 and H14 belong to the HEPA range, and U15, U16 and U17 belong to the ULPA range. The grade evaluation of the two involves MPPS testing and is not simply a horizontal comparison based on '0.3μm filtration efficiency'.
Therefore, the choice of HEPA or ULPA should be comprehensively judged based on the cleanliness level, process requirements, equipment structure, air volume and filter resistance.

ULPA filter can be used as the terminal filter component of FFU and form a clean air supply unit with the fan, box and control system.
In this application, the filter is not selected separately, but needs to match the fan performance, rated air volume, static pressure, filter resistance and installation size of the FFU.
FFU fan → ULPA filter → clean air is sent into the work area
For semiconductors, precision electronics and other high-cleanliness scenarios, the filter size and filtration level can be determined based on the equipment structure, and the corresponding FFU configuration can be selected based on the actual air volume.
Aili Industry itself has the production and R&D capabilities of fans, filters, FFU and control systems. When making clean air supply equipment, it can match the system from filters, fans to control parts. This is also an important basic condition when customizing products.
ULPA filters can also be installed in HEPA BOX or other high-efficiency air supply devices.
Common structures are:
Air conditioning system → Air duct → HEPA BOX/ULPA BOX → ULPA filter → Clean room
For the liquid tank seal and knife edge seal structure, it is necessary to confirm the filter installation frame size and sealing structure in advance to avoid installation mismatch between the filter and the box.
Therefore, when purchasing ULPA filters, in addition to providing length, width, and height dimensions, it is also recommended to confirm at the same time:
Filtration level → Rated air volume → Initial resistance → Frame structure → Sealing method → Installation direction
Specific product parameters can be adjusted according to filtration level, size and installation structure. Actual usage conditions should be confirmed with the specific model.

If you choose U15/U16/U17 for a ULPA project, the official technical parameters and testing data corresponding to the ULPA level should be used as the final basis.
Liquid tank seal is suitable for clean air supply equipment that requires high sealing reliability.
When selecting, please confirm:
Liquid tank size → Liquid tank position → Knife edge size → Filter height → Installation direction
Aili Industry can confirm the filter size and sealing form based on the filter box structure, reducing repeated modifications during the equipment design stage.
The higher the filtration level of the ULPA filter, the more suitable it is for all systems. When choosing, you need to comprehensively consider the cleanliness level, process requirements, air volume, initial resistance, installation space and subsequent maintenance methods.
It is recommended to determine in the following order:
Cleanliness requirements → Determine U15/U16/U17 → Determine rated air volume → Determine filter size → Determine frame → Determine sealing method → Confirm resistance → Confirm testing requirements
If used for FFU, further verification is required:
FFU model→Fan static pressure→Filter resistance→Design air volume→Face air velocity→Control method
If used for HEPA BOX, it is important to confirm:
Box size → Installation frame → Liquid tank/knife edge structure → Filter size → Sealing method
The installation spaces of different clean rooms and equipment are not completely consistent, so ULPA filters usually need to be customized according to the equipment structure.

For non-standard filters, it is recommended to directly provide the equipment installation diagram, original filter size or installation frame size at the early stage of the project to facilitate confirmation of the product plan based on the actual structure.
Aili Industry has long been engaged in the R&D and production of clean equipment and air filtration products. The production system covers filters, fans, FFU, EFU and related control systems. For projects that require ULPA filters to be matched with FFU, collaborative confirmation can be made from the aspects of filter size, filtration grade, fan parameters and control methods. Filter → Fan → FFU box → Control system
This matching method is suitable for projects that require overall matching of clean air supply equipment, and also facilitates subsequent technical confirmation of non-standard sizes, special sealing structures, and equipment integration.
When installing the ULPA filter, the filter material should be protected from collision, extrusion, or scratches by sharp objects.
It is recommended to check before installation:
Filter appearance→ Frame size→ Gasket status→ Installation frame→ Sealing structure
During installation, ensure a good fit between the filter and the mounting frame.
During use, you can judge whether replacement is needed based on clean room particle monitoring, system air volume, filter resistance, and equipment operating status. It is not recommended to judge only based on a fixed time period.
When the filter resistance changes significantly or the clean environment indicators are abnormal, the filter, sealing structure and upstream air treatment system should be checked based on the on-site inspection results.
What is a ULPA filter?
