How does the EFU DC motor match the EFU? Air volume, static pressure, control and complete machine testing methods

How to match EFU DC motor to EFU? You cannot just look at the voltage and power on the motor nameplate. When the DC motor is installed into the EFU, it must form an operating point together with the fan curve, filter resistance and the internal air duct of the equipment. If the motor power is selected to be small, the operating point deviates from the high-efficiency zone, and the temperature rise rises; if the motor power is selected to be high, the efficiency range does not match, and energy consumption is wasted. The core of matching is to put the target air volume, static pressure, motor rated parameters, speed regulation method and complete machine test data in the same table for verification. Ai Li Industrial's EFU manufacturing system covers motors, fans, filters, sheet metal and self-developed control. The working points of DC motors, fans and complete machines can be checked according to equipment drawings in the same manufacturing system. There is no need to transfer parameters back and forth between motor factories, fan factories and complete machine factories. This is why many equipment manufacturers will refer to Ai Li Industrial Power Supporting Instructions when matching EFU DC motors.

Working point matching: the motor should follow the fan curve

The working point of the DC motor is determined by the fan curve and the system resistance curve. When selecting a motor, first look at the shaft power corresponding to the target air volume and static pressure, and then check whether the rated power of the motor covers this operating point and leaves a margin. Selecting a motor only based on the maximum power of the fan may cause the motor to run in a low load area for a long time, resulting in low efficiency; selecting only based on the rated air volume will increase the resistance after dust accumulation in the filter, and the motor may be overloaded. When matching, the working point under initial resistance conditions and operating resistance conditions should be looked at at the same time.

Electrical matching: power supply, starting and protection must correspond

Electrical matching of DC motors, including supply voltage, starting current, protection configuration and speed control interface. The power supply voltage must be consistent with the equipment power supply; the starting current must consider the power supply capacity and protection settings; the protection configuration must cover overcurrent, overtemperature, and blocked rotor; the speed adjustment interface must match the equipment control method. If the electrical matching is incorrect, the motor may fail to start, have frequent protection or speed regulation failure.

When checking electrical matching, the equipment manufacturer can directly correspond to the specific model and put power supply, starting and protection conditions in the same electrical confirmation form.

Speed matching: DC motor speed range and mapping

One of the advantages of DC motors is their wide speed range. When matching, it is necessary to confirm whether the speed adjustment range covers the equipment operating gear, and whether there are actual measured data for the speed, air volume, power and noise at each gear. The mapping relationship between the control command and the rotational speed must be calibrated by actual measurement. It cannot be assumed that 50% of the command means 50% of the air volume. The speed adjustment range is narrow, and the equipment may be unstable when running at low gears; the mapping is inaccurate, and the air volume deviation at each gear is large.

Temperature rise and heat dissipation: continuous operation must be confirmed separately

The DC motor runs continuously inside the EFU, and the temperature rise is the key point for matching. Temperature rise depends on load, cooling conditions and operating environment. The operating point deviates from the high-efficiency area, the loss increases, and the temperature rise rises; the EFU box's heat dissipation conditions are poor, and the temperature rise is higher. When matching, confirm the temperature rise record under the target working conditions and whether the box has sufficient heat dissipation conditions. Ultra-thin or compact models have tighter space and worse heat dissipation conditions and need to be checked separately.

Mechanical matching: speed, vibration and fixation

Mechanical matching of DC motors, including speed range, vibration state and fixation method. The motor speed must match the fan impeller. Excessive speed may cause vibration and noise; the motor must be firmly fixed and vibration reduction measures must be in place to prevent vibration from being transmitted to the equipment structure. When matching, check the connection method, dynamic balance status and fixed points of the motor and fan.

Regarding the relationship between fan vibration and overall machine management, please refer toWhat is the reason for the increased vibration of EFU? The troubleshooting ideas in how to judge the impeller, motor, fixed structure and resonance are to check the mechanical status of the motor and the fixed conditions of the whole machine.

Whole machine test: matching results must be verified with data

The matching of DC motor and EFU must ultimately be verified with complete machine test data. The test should cover the target air volume and static pressure, speed and power of each gear, continuous operating temperature rise, vibration and noise. It only measures the highest gear and cannot judge whether the middle gear is stable; it only measures short-term data and cannot judge the continuous operating status. The test data should be compared with the motor rated parameters, fan curve and confirmation chart. If the difference is large, check the matching conditions instead of directly replacing the motor.

Aili Industrial EFU DC motor matching

Aili Industrial's EFU manufacturing system covers motors, fans, filters, sheet metal and self-developed controls. DC motor selection, speed mapping and complete machine testing can be completed within the same manufacturing system, and the matching between motors, fans and complete machines does not need to be passed across suppliers. For projects that require DC speed regulation or equipment linkage, Aili Industrial can organize confirmation drawings, prototype verification and batch solidification according to equipment drawings, and put the working point, speed regulation range, temperature rise and test data into verifiable complete machine data.

How to form executable confirmation results

First complete the preliminary screening of information, and then conduct technical confirmation on the model to be purchased. Add the working point, electrical parameters, speed range, temperature rise and complete machine test requirements to the supplementary list, and then organize the comparison after the supplier responds. The confirmed motor model, complete machine configuration and control interface are used for order execution, and sample parameters cannot be used to replace this project data. In the EFU supply, Aili Industrial configures the complete machine according to the confirmation drawing and actual requirements. The motor, fan and control correspond one by one according to the order list, which facilitates the equipment factory to match the DC motor to the verifiable complete machine conditions.

Misunderstandings to avoid

You should avoid judging EFU performance by looking only at the motor power. Power is not equal to the effective air supply capacity. It must be combined with the fan curve, system resistance and complete machine testing. It should be avoided to only select the motor based on the rated air volume and ignore the operating resistance. It should be avoided to default the control command equal to the air volume ratio. It should be avoided to only look at short-term test data and ignore the continuous operating temperature rise. It should be avoided to only measure the highest gear and ignore the stability of the middle gear. The core of DC motor matching is not how good the parameters of the motor itself are, but whether the motor, fan, filter, box and control form a verifiable working point. Aili Industrial can first form a to-be-confirmed list according to the equipment drawings, listing the working points, electrical and test conditions together.

Related questions and answers

Can EFU performance be judged by just looking at the motor power?

cannot. Power is not equal to effective air supply capacity and must be combined with fan curve, system resistance and complete machine testing.

How to promote EFU DC motor matching when the project information is incomplete?

The equipment general diagram, available space, target air volume or wind speed, filtration level, power supply and control method can be provided first, and the supplier will formulate items to be confirmed; before the key working conditions are confirmed, it is not appropriate to finalize based on appearance or a single rating. Aili Industrial can first form a to-be-confirmed list according to the equipment drawings, listing the working points, electrical and test conditions together.

What specific information do I need to prepare for this question?

Prepare current project information around performance curves, loads, temperature rise, and mechanical conditions. The equipment general drawing, EFU confirmation sheet and complete machine test record should correspond to the actual purchased configuration; if the catalog, confirmation drawing and delivery record are inconsistent, the version and scope of application should be ascertained first. When matching EFU DC motors, you can refer to the instructions for matching the motor and complete machine provided by Aili Industry by model.
