Why is it necessary to perform system debugging after FFU installation is completed?

Qualification of a single unit does not mean qualification of the system

FFU is usually tested as a whole before leaving the factory, and parameters such as air volume, wind speed and noise of a single device may meet the requirements. After the equipment is installed on site, a single unit may pass the test. However, passing a single unit does not mean that the entire system is qualified.

FFU is installed in a clean room and needs to operate together with the ceiling, return air, fresh air, exhaust and group control systems. When multiple FFUs are running at the same time, the airflow will affect each other. If only a single unit is tested without system debugging, local insufficient air volume, abnormal pressure difference, air flow short circuit or group control communication problems may occur.

Therefore, system debugging must be performed after FFU installation is completed. The purpose of commissioning is to confirm that each equipment operates harmoniously in the overall system and meets regional cleanliness and airflow requirements. Aili Industry has complete production capabilities in FFU complete machines and clean engineering supporting equipment, and can cooperate with the project for system debugging. For the basic structure of the FFU machine, please refer toAili Industrial FFU fan filter unit。

Why does air volume balance need debugging?

Air volume balance is an important part of system debugging. Even if the total air volume meets the design value, the actual air volume in different areas may still vary. Inlet air conditions, filter resistance, installation seals and return air paths will all affect the actual air supply of each FFU.

Through debugging, the air volume in each area can be measured, the high and low areas can be found, and the FFU speed or control settings can be adjusted to make the air volume in each area close to the design value. Regarding the air volume balance method, you can refer toHow to balance the air volume after FFU is installed and understand the adjustment sequence.

Why pressure difference and airflow organization need to be debugged

The pressure difference and air flow organization of the clean room need to be coordinated with the FFU air supply, return air and fresh air. If you only install FFU without debugging, the room pressure difference may be low, local airflow dead zones or airflow direction deviation may occur.

Debugging content includes: room pressure difference; air flow direction; return air path; and wind speed in key areas. Through debugging, the operating parameters of fresh air, return air and FFU can be adjusted to bring the system to the design state. Regarding pressure difference and air flow recovery, please refer toWhen the clean room door is frequently opened, how to check the FFU air supply and pressure difference recovery to understand the troubleshooting ideas.

Why do group control and communications need joint debugging?

If the FFU is connected to the group control system, debugging also includes communication and joint debugging. Confirm that the address of each FFU is correct, communication is normal, settings are effective, and status feedback is normal. If the group control system does not match the FFU protocol, offline, control errors or inconsistent status display may occur.

Joint debugging can confirm that the group control system can manage all FFUs normally, and that the partition settings and operating modes meet the requirements. For group control debugging, please refer toHow does the FFU centralized control system plan equipment addresses? Learn about address planning.

Why do filters and seals need to be debugged and confirmed?

The filter installation seal and box seal need to be confirmed after installation. If the filter passes the factory leak test, it does not mean that the seal is intact after installation. If the seal is not good, unfiltered air can bypass the filter and enter the clean area.

During debugging, it should be confirmed that the filter is installed in place, the seal is even, and the pressing mechanism is normal. Check for leaks if necessary. For seal inspection, please refer toWhat to do if the FFU sealing strip is not pressed evenly. Learn how to troubleshoot.

What problems can be found through debugging?

System debugging can detect the following problems in advance: insufficient air volume or uneven distribution; abnormal pressure difference; air flow short circuit or dead zone; abnormal group control communication; poor filter sealing; FFU installation interference; and return air path obstruction.

If these problems are not discovered during the commissioning phase, they may affect cleanliness or production after operation. Debugging records should be retained to facilitate subsequent maintenance and troubleshooting.

How to arrange the debugging process

The debugging process can be carried out in the following order. First confirm the operating status of a single FFU and install the seal. Then carry out air volume measurement and zone balancing. Then check the room pressure differential and airflow direction. Then perform group control joint debugging and partition settings. Finally, area cleanliness verification is performed.

Debugging should be carried out in stages, and each stage should be confirmed before entering the next stage. Debugging records should be complete.

Issues that should be confirmed in advance during project communication

During the debugging phase of the FFU system, it is recommended to confirm the following with the FFU manufacturer and designer: debugging scope and process; air volume balance requirements; pressure difference and air flow requirements; group control and joint debugging content; filter seal inspection; debugging record format; verification methods and judgment standards; and problem handling procedures.

in conclusion

System debugging is carried out after the FFU installation is completed to confirm that the air volume, pressure difference, air flow organization and control functions operate in a coordinated manner in the overall system. The qualification of a single device does not mean that the system is qualified. Debugging can detect interface and linkage problems in advance. Air volume balance, pressure difference debugging, group control joint debugging and sealing confirmation are the main contents of debugging.
