What cleaning conditions must be clarified before inquiry?

When inquiring about clean equipment, if you only give 'Class 100' or 'ISO 5', it will be difficult for the supplier to give an accurate plan. Equipment configurations corresponding to different site conditions may vary greatly, and the quotations will also vary significantly.

Sorting out the key conditions clearly before making an inquiry can reduce repeated communication and allow quotes from different suppliers to be compared on the same basis. The following will start from the protection area, clean target, background conditions, pollution load and installation conditions.

Protection areas and evaluation boundaries

First of all, it is necessary to clarify the objects and scope that the device needs to protect:

  • Is it an entire room or a local workstation?

  • Whether the product, equipment or operating area is being protected;

  • The boundaries and dimensions of the area;

  • Where the product is actually exposed.

If the protection boundary is unclear, the equipment size and air supply range cannot be determined. For the selection logic of local protection and whole room solutions, please refer to How to choose between whole room purification and partial purification ? First confirm the plan level.

Cleaning targets should indicate particle size and status

The cleanliness target cannot just write the grade name, but also should indicate:

  • Grades and standards adopted;

  • Measure particle size;

  • Test state (empty, static or dynamic);

  • Sampling rules and criteria.

Just write 'ISO 5' or 'Level 100', which may cause disagreements during acceptance. The particle size must be indicated for the cleanliness level. For specific reasons, please refer to Why must the particle size be indicated in the cleanliness grade? , the difference between grade and filtration efficiency, please refer to What is the difference between cleanliness level and filtration efficiency?。

Background air and pollution loads

The background conditions of the environment where the device is located affect the device configuration:

  • Background air particle levels;

  • Number of personnel and intensity of activities;

  • Frequency of material entry and exit;

  • Equipment dust production and heat generation;

  • Is there any need for exhaust or supplementary air?

The higher the background load, the greater the processing load the device needs to bear. For the recording method of pollution load, please refer to How to distinguish external and internal contamination when particles exceed the standard? , first understand the classification of pollution sources.

Installation space and site conditions

Installation conditions affect equipment size and structure selection:

  • Available installation space and height;

  • Ceiling module or installation basis;

  • Access and handling conditions;

  • Maintenance access and filter replacement paths;

  • Power and communication conditions.

Insufficient installation space or restricted maintenance access may require adjustments to the equipment structure. To determine ceiling matching, please refer to How does the FFU appearance size match the ceiling module? , for maintenance space considerations, please refer to What later expenses will be increased due to insufficient maintenance channels?。

Air volume, static pressure and system conditions

If there is an air conditioning, exhaust or air return system, relevant conditions should be provided:

  • Existing air volume and static pressure;

  • Exhaust air and supplementary air conditions;

  • Room pressure difference requirements;

  • Whether the return air system is shared.

These conditions affect equipment operating points and configurations. For the estimation method of air volume demand, please refer to How to convert the clean area area into air supply demand? , the selection of working point can refer to Why should we look at the complete performance curve when selecting FFU?。

Special requirements and operational status

If the project has special requirements, these should be stated during the inquiry:

  • Anti-static, corrosion-resistant or low vibration;

  • Temperature and humidity control requirements;

  • Molecular pollution control requirements;

  • Operating hours and duty modes;

  • Whether it needs to be linked with the production line or equipment.

Special requirements affect how the equipment is configured and controlled. For operating status and linkage requirements, please refer to FFU group control system , understand the choice of control method.

Unknown conditions should be listed as pending confirmation

Some conditions may not be fully clear at the inquiry stage. A distinction should be made between:

  • Conditions confirmed;

  • Conditions to be confirmed;

  • Things that require on-site measurement or verification.

The quotation document should state the assumptions, and then lock in the model and interface after confirmation. This will both facilitate inquiries and avoid subsequent changes. For condition confirmation during modular expansion, please refer to What are the expansion conditions for using independent modules in clean systems?。

Project judgment example

A certain project only stated 'level 100' and room area, and the suppliers' quotations varied greatly. Adjustment method: Supplement the protective boundary, measure particle size, test status and installation conditions. After re-inquiring, the quotation caliber will become consistent.

Another project provided background loads, existing air volumes and maintenance space at the time of inquiry. The supplier's solution matches the on-site conditions once, reducing subsequent adjustments.

These two situations illustrate that sorting out the cleanliness conditions before making an inquiry will help form an equipment plan that matches the site and a comparable quotation.

Aili industrial equipment supporting support

The completeness of the inquiry conditions directly affects the accuracy of the plan and quotation. Aili Industrial has collaborative capabilities in fans, motors, filters, control systems and complete machine assembly links. It can check equipment configurations, working points and interface conditions based on the protection area, clean target, background conditions and installation space provided by the project, helping to organize the inquiry requirements into executable configuration basis, rather than just quoting according to a grade name.

Aili Industrial develops and manufactures FFU, EFU, HEPA/ULPA air filters, high-efficiency air supply vents, fan boxes and other clean air equipment. Relying on motors, fans, control systems, filters and complete machine supporting capabilities, we provide selection and customization support for clean room and production equipment projects.
