When you get a performance report on a chemical filter, the first thing you should confirm is: What gas does this report measure?
If the report says 'removal efficiency ≥95%' but does not specify the target gas, test concentration, air volume and temperature and humidity conditions, this value is basically useless in selection. Because chemical filtration is selective - the same medium may have completely different efficiency, capacity and penetration performance for different gases. For specific principles, please refer to Discussion on why chemical filters should be selected according to the target gas .
The core information of the report is what it measured.
Gas name and concentration. The report should clearly indicate whether the test gas is toluene, ammonia, sulfur dioxide, or another component, and state what the inlet concentration is. Efficiencies may differ at different concentrations, especially at low concentrations, where efficiency data are more sensitive to measurement errors. For specific differences, please refer to Discussion of whether chemical filters can remove ammonia from the air .
Test air volume. The air volume determines the contact time between gas and medium, which directly affects the removal efficiency. The report should indicate the air volume conditions during the test and the corresponding relationship between the air volume and the filter material area.
Temperature and humidity conditions. Temperature and humidity will affect adsorption or reaction effects. In a high-humidity environment, water molecules may compete with target gases for adsorption sites. The temperature and humidity conditions in the report should be compared with the actual working conditions. For specific differences, please refer to Discussion on whether to choose activated carbon or other adsorption media for chemical filters .
detection method. Sampling methods, analytical instruments, and detection limits determine the applicable boundaries of the data. Results below the detection limit should indicate the method boundary and cannot be directly regarded as zero concentration.
When key conditions are missing, supplementary information should be provided rather than just citing percentages. A report with only 'efficiency 95%' without gas name and test conditions has limited reference value.
The media of chemical filtration is selective, and different gases have different adsorption or reaction behaviors.
The data obtained with toluene cannot illustrate the effect on ammonia. Toluene is an organic vapor and ammonia is an alkaline gas. Their molecular properties and processing mechanisms are different. Media that are effective in treating toluene may have little adsorption capacity for ammonia. For specific differences, please refer to How to choose air chemical filter and air filter for toluene pollution Discussion of whether chemical filters can remove ammonia from the air .
Data for acid gases and alkaline gases are also not interchangeable. Sulfur dioxide treatment plans and ammonia treatment plans are usually different and need to be checked separately. For specific differences, please refer to whether chemical filters can remove sulfur dioxide from the air . Discussion of
Mixed contamination is more complex. If there are multiple gases in the gas stream, different components may compete for adsorption sites, or some components may react preferentially. In this case, data from single component gases cannot be directly extrapolated to mixed conditions. For specific differences, please refer to Discussion on how chemical filters compare with photocatalytic purification equipment .
Therefore, when the project requires the processing of multiple gases, the report scope needs to cover the relevant objects, or explain additional verification arrangements.
The reported data must ultimately correspond to the on-site protection goals.
Exit concentration requirements should be specific. Is it equipment anti-corrosion, personnel health or process protection? The allowable concentrations and detection methods corresponding to different targets may be different.
The detection point should correspond to the protection area. If the protection target is inside the equipment or a certain workstation, the sampling point should be set near that location instead of just measuring the total return air. For specific methods, please refer to Discussion of sampling points for chemical filter performance verification .
Particle efficiency reports cannot be used solely in place of gas reports. Particle filtration and gas filtration are two different evaluation systems. HEPA or ULPA efficiency data cannot describe the chemical filter's ability to treat target gases.
The scope of the report should match the project needs. If the project requires the control of ammonia, the report needs to provide data on ammonia and not on other gases.
A certain project received a quotation for a chemical filter. The information stated 'high removal efficiency' but did not indicate the name of the target gas and the test conditions.
It was not possible to confirm during the initial assessment: Will this product have an effect on the acid gases that the project is concerned about? What is the efficiency at the target concentration and air volume? How long can the capacity be maintained?
Processing method: Require the supplier to supplement a complete report, including target gas name, inlet concentration, air volume, temperature and humidity, and detection method. At the same time, explain the specific gas composition and concentration range that need to be controlled in the project. After obtaining the corresponding data, we can then judge whether the product is suitable for the project needs.
This case shows that the efficiency value in the quotation must correspond to the specific gas and test conditions to be meaningful. involving When selecting chemical filter product series , it is recommended to provide the target gas list and working conditions to the supplier for verification.

The performance data of chemical filters need to correspond to specific gases and working conditions before they can be used for selection and judgment.
Aili Industrial has independent manufacturing capabilities in filters, motors, fans, control systems and sheet metal processing, and can provide chemical filter product series and supporting air supply equipment. For projects that require verification of performance reports, the target gas list, concentration range, system conditions and acceptance requirements can be combined to assist in confirming the report coverage and filter material configuration. When the filter is matched with MAU, FFU, EFU and other equipment, the sampling point location and maintenance method can be confirmed uniformly.

Providing target gases, concentration ranges, and system conditions when requesting a quote will help confirm appropriate protocols and reporting requirements. The specific selection is subject to the technical documents and test results confirmed by the project.
