Chemical filters often need to be tested before formal bulk purchase. Use a small filter section or temporary device and run it for a period of time under actual working conditions to see if the effect meets the requirements.
Whether the trial can give effective conclusions depends on whether the success conditions are clearly written before starting. If 'whether it is considered a success' is discussed after the trial is over, it can easily become an explanation after the fact, and the understanding of all parties may not be consistent. For specific ideas on acceptance, please refer to Discussion on how to calculate the removal efficiency of chemical filters .
Before the trial, it is recommended to write the following items into the trial plan.
target gas. Which gas or gases is it? What is the inlet concentration range? If you only write 'deodorizing' or 'processing VOCs', the trial results cannot be mapped to specific ingredients. For specific principles, please refer to Discussion on why chemical filters should be selected according to target gases .
Export requirements. What concentration level is desired? Is it an absolute value or removal efficiency? Is it based on the entrance ratio or a fixed value? Different targets correspond to different detection methods and judgment methods. For specific definitions, please refer to Discussion of what breakthrough concentration means in a chemical filter report .
Representative working conditions. What will the air volume, temperature and humidity, and production status be like during the trial period? These conditions must be close to the actual operating status, otherwise the trial results cannot be directly extrapolated. For specific sampling methods, please refer to Discussion of sampling points for chemical filter performance verification .
Trial duration. How long is the trial run? Days, weeks or longer? The duration determines what can be observed—short-term effects, medium-term changes, or capacity consumption trends.
detection method. What method is used to detect it? What are the instruments, sampling methods, detection limits and judgment standards? The method should be suitable for the concentration level of the target gas. For specific differences, please refer to Discussion of why chemical filter performance reports list specific target gases .
Agree on these conditions in advance, and only after the trial is over can you objectively judge whether the requirements are met.
During the trial period, other conditions should also be kept as consistent as possible.
Record the inlet load. Inlet concentration, air volume and production status should be recorded together. If the inlet concentration fluctuates during production periods, testing times should cover representative periods. For specific methods, please refer to whether to do air sampling before choosing a chemical filter . Discuss
control variables. During the trial period, try to avoid changing other conditions that may affect the results at the same time, such as changing materials, adjusting ventilation, or changing production shifts. If adjustments are indeed needed, this should be noted in the record to facilitate subsequent analysis.
Avoid judging based on smell alone. Odor changes can be used as a reference, but they cannot be used as the only criterion. Some gases have low odor thresholds, and some gases have no obvious odor. Only outlet concentration testing can provide objective data. For specific differences, please refer to Discussion of whether chemical filters can remove ammonia from the air .
Keep inspection records. The time, location, method and results of each test should be recorded. The judgment after the trial must be supported by data.
The trial is not just about gas concentration, but also about operating performance.
Air volume and resistance. Record the pressure difference changes and air volume conditions during the trial period. If resistance rises quickly, media fill or inlet load may need to be evaluated. For specific methods, please refer to Discussion of how much the added resistance of the chemical filter will increase the fan's electricity consumption .
Replacement conditions. Is it easy to replace the filter material of the trial device? Can the operation space and maintenance channels meet subsequent batch use? Device-side applications such as FFU with chemical filter or MAU box chemical filter , interfaces and maintenance methods need to be confirmed in the trial plan.
Sustained performance. A short-term trial cannot directly prove full-year longevity. After the trial is over, the replacement cycle can be estimated based on the observed data and arrangements for follow-up inspections can be retained in the formal program. For specific life assessment, please refer to Discussion of how long chemical filters last .
If the trial device is poorly sealed, the data will have limited reference value. After installation, it is recommended to check the frame bypass first to confirm that the air flows through the filter material. For specific methods, please refer to Discussion on how to check frame bypass after chemical filter installation .
After the trial is over, the judgment will be based on the conditions agreed in advance.
When the conditions are met, you can enter bulk purchasing or formal plan design. However, the trial data must correspond to actual working conditions, and the media type, usage, and replacement cycle for batch configuration should be confirmed based on the trial results. Please refer to the specific size matching Discussion of how chemical filter sizes match existing filter frames .
When conditions are not met, analyze the reasons. Is it because the media selection is inappropriate, the filling volume is insufficient, the inlet concentration exceeds expectations, or the air flow path is not covered? This information is helpful in adjusting the plan. For detailed investigation, please refer to why the concentration at the outlet of the chemical filter is higher than that at the inlet . Discussion on
When the boundaries are unclear, supplement the trial or expand the detection range. If the working conditions fluctuate greatly during the trial, or the target gas composition is unclear, it may be necessary to extend the trial or add testing items before deciding on the next step.
A certain project plans to add a chemical filter to the equipment to deal with organic vapors released internally. The trial plan states that the target gas is a specific organic component, the outlet concentration is required to be lower than a certain value, the detection method is post-sampling analysis, and the trial period is four weeks, covering the normal production period.
During the trial period, the inlet and outlet concentration, air volume and pressure difference were tested. After four weeks, the outlet concentration was stably below the target and the air volume showed no significant decrease. All conditions agreed in the trial plan are met, and the project determines batch configuration accordingly.
Another project did not specify export requirements before the trial. After the trial, some people thought that 'the smell was significantly improved', while others thought that support from testing data was needed, leading to differences in judgment.
These two cases illustrate that writing down the success conditions before the trial can avoid subsequent disputes. involving When selecting a chemical filter product series , it is recommended to provide the target gas, working conditions and testing requirements to the supplier for verification.

Aili Industrial has independent manufacturing capabilities in filters, motors, fans, control systems and sheet metal processing, and can provide chemical filter product series and supporting air supply equipment. For projects that require trial, we can assist in checking the trial plan and product configuration based on the target gas, inlet load, system conditions and testing requirements. When the filter is matched with MAU, FFU, EFU and other equipment, the interface, resistance and maintenance methods can be confirmed uniformly.

Providing the target gas, trial conditions and testing requirements when enquiring, will help confirm the appropriate solution. The specific selection is subject to the technical documents and test results confirmed by the project.
