What appearance and labels do I need to check before installing a chemical filter?

After the chemical filter arrives, it is recommended to check the label and appearance before installation rather than unpacking the inner packaging first.

Direct answer: The label must be able to correspond to the model, specification, target gas category, air flow direction, production batch or number; the outer frame, filter material, seals, and packaging must be checked for damage, moisture, or deformation. If the label is inconsistent with the project requirements, suspend the installation first and contact the supplier for confirmation.

This step seems basic, but in actual projects, many reworks and effect deviations are caused by 'just install it directly after the appearance is almost the same'. Chemical filters and particulate filters are sometimes similar in appearance, but may have completely different media and functions.

Don’t unpack the inner packaging yet

Chemical filter media is sensitive to moisture, dust and odors. Removing the inner packaging in advance may cause the filter material to absorb moisture or become contaminated.

After arriving, check the outer packaging, packing list and labels first. When it is necessary to unpack and inspect, try to do it in a clean and dry area, and do not mix it with construction dust. If it is not installed temporarily, restore it to the original packaging after inspection and store it in a dry area.

When the outer packaging is damaged by collision, water damage or serious deformation, record it first before unpacking. Do not install it directly, and do not pat or blow the filter material by yourself. For specific storage requirements, please refer to the Chemical Filters product range . Product description for

The target gas category should be visible on the label

Chemical filters are labeled, not just the model and size.

The target gas category is the focus. Different media should be clearly marked on the label or accompanying information for acidic gases, alkaline gases, organic vapors or other components. If it only says 'chemical filter' without a specific category, you need to check the drawings or contact the supplier for confirmation. You cannot judge based on the appearance.

The airflow direction should also be reflected on the label, or installation instructions should be included with the product. Installing in the opposite direction may affect the treatment effect and may also affect the sealing state. For specific confirmation methods, please refer to Discussion on whether the transportation direction and installation direction of chemical filters must be consistent .

The batch or number is used for traceability. If the project requires unit-by-unit recording or subsequent test report correspondence, the number should be recorded in the ledger before installation. Please refer to the importance of correspondence between performance reports and physical objects. Discussion of why chemical filter performance reports list specific target gases .

If there are multiple media mixed in the same batch of goods, it is recommended to place them separately according to the installation location list before installation to avoid installing in the wrong area. Different media are suitable for different objects, and installation in the wrong location may have no effect. Please refer to the specific principles. Discussion on why chemical filters should be selected according to the target gas .

Appearance inspection is not just about seeing flaws

The visual inspection will cover several areas.

Outer frame : Is there any deformation, warping, or bumping? Deformation of the outer frame will affect installation and sealing.

Filter material : Whether there are any indentations, damage, traces of moisture or foreign matter. Chemical filter media may absorb moisture, and damaged packaging or water damage should be recorded carefully.

Seals : Whether the sealing gasket is displaced, broken, or aged; whether the liquid tank structure is well protected and whether there are any signs of leakage.

Interfaces and supports : There is no damage to the installation interface, compression edge, protective net or support structure.

If you find an abnormality, take pictures first, record the number and location, and do not repair it yourself before installing it. For products involving liquid tank seals or special structures, follow the installation instructions of the corresponding model.

The direction, sealing and interface should be looked at together

Before installation, check not only the labels, but also the physical and on-site interfaces.

Direction : Confirm that the airflow arrow or installation instructions are consistent with the direction of the on-site air path. When there are turns in the air path inside the equipment, just looking at the arrows may not be enough. You must confirm along the actual air flow path.

Sealing interface : Check whether the sealing surface of the filter element matches the installation frame. The position, size and compression method of the gasket or liquid tank must correspond to the on-site frame. For specific verification methods, please refer to Discussion of how chemical filter sizes match existing filter frames .

Disassembly and assembly path : Make sure the filter element can be installed and taken out. When the space at the equipment end is tight, the replacement channel must be confirmed in advance.

After installation, check the frame bypass according to project requirements. For specific methods, please refer to Discussion on how to check frame bypass after chemical filter installation .

Keep good records to save trouble later

It is recommended to keep a record of the inspection results before installation.

Record content : arrival date, product model, batch or number, target gas category, appearance inspection results, installation location, abnormal photos and handling methods.

Corresponding location : Mark the installation location for each unit or module clearly in advance. During subsequent replacement or troubleshooting, the corresponding product can be found directly.

Exception handling : Label discrepancies, appearance damage, unclear orientation, and abnormal seals are all recorded first and then processed. Don't use 'almost' instead of checking.

Project judgment example

For a certain project, two batches of chemical filters arrived, with the same appearance and dimensions, but different target gases. During installation, a batch of filter elements for organic gases were installed in the alkaline gas treatment position without carefully checking the labels.

After operation, it was found that the outlet concentration at this location did not drop significantly. The inspection confirmed that the filter element model and media type did not match the design. After checking the label again according to the position and adjusting the installation, the outlet concentration returned to normal.

This case illustrates: Checking the label and appearance before installation can reduce subsequent rework and effect deviation. involving MAU box chemical filter or The same applies to FFU systems equipped with chemical filters , which should be checked before installation.
