Can nominal efficiency prove ULPA rating?

cannot.

This sentence may surprise some people - the product information says 99.9995%, so why can’t it be counted as U15?

The problem is that a percentage itself carries no conditional information. It may be measured on a filter material sample under low air volume, it may be the efficiency of a certain fixed particle size, or it may be data measured using different methods in the early years. These data may have reference value, but they are not enough to directly determine product grade.

The same percentage may have completely different meanings

For example, several products are marked '99.9995%':

Product A : The efficiency of the filter material sample measured under laboratory conditions. The test particle size is fixed at 0.3 microns.

Product B : The overall efficiency of the entire filter measured at rated air volume, tested according to MPPS conditions.

Product C : Efficiency data under a specific working condition, test conditions and purpose not stated on the sample.

These three numbers look the same, but the objects they describe, the test methods, and the applicable conditions are completely different . It is logically untenable to use the data of product A to prove that product B or C has reached the U15 level.

Before comparing, confirm what the numbers represent. Is it filter material or finished product? Fixed particle size or MPPS? What is the test air volume? Which standard should be used? Only after these are confirmed can we judge whether the data can be used for level verification.

The finished product also needs to be checked for packaging effects

Even if the performance of the filter material is qualified, the performance of the entire machine may change after it is made into a finished product.

The stress on the filter material during the folding process, whether the glue is continuous, the assembly accuracy of the outer frame, and the sealing structure design—these aspects may affect the performance of the final product. Filter media testing does not cover these processing and assembly links.

Therefore, grade determination usually requires a finished product inspection report rather than a filter material report. The complete machine report should correspond to the specific model or number and include data on overall efficiency and local leak detection. For specific testing items, please refer to the relevant instructions of ULPA factory testing.

The filter material report can be used as a reference for material selection, but it cannot replace the finished product report as a grade certificate.

How to write when inquiry and acceptance

In the procurement documents, the grade requirements should indicate the standard version and test conditions. Just writing 'U15' is not enough. You must also explain what standards and how overall and local efficiency are judged.

The information requested should be clear. Is it a filter material report or a finished product report? Is it a batch report or a unit-by-unit record? These are confirmed during the inquiry stage to avoid discovering that the information is in the wrong form only when delivery is made.

What to do when missing items are reported. If the report lacks test air volume, particle size conditions or test object description, the supplier should be asked to complete it. Oral explanation alone cannot form a complete basis for acceptance.

involving HEPA/ULPA air filter products of different grades have the same verification methods, and the criteria are implemented according to the corresponding standards.

Project judgment example

The information provided by the supplier is printed with 'efficiency ≥99.9995%', without specifying the standards and test conditions.

This data cannot be directly used for U15 level determination. It is necessary to obtain the finished product test report of the corresponding model from the supplier to confirm: test standard version, test air volume, MPPS conditions, overall efficiency and partial efficiency results.

If the supplier can only provide filter material data, it means that the product may only be tested at the material level and not at the finished product level. In this case, whether to accept or not needs to be judged according to the project requirements, and it cannot default to meeting U15.

For matching FFU fan filter unit or The actual performance of the filter element used in the fan filter unit of the EFU equipment after installation must be confirmed through on-site leak detection and regional testing. The finished product report is only one link in the verification chain.

Information cooperation about Aili Industrial

Whether efficiency data can be used for grade determination depends on whether it has accompanying test conditions. The information is complete and verification is smooth.

Aili Industrial's manufacturing system covers filters, motors, fans, control systems and complete machine assembly, and can provide ULPA ultra-high efficiency filter and supporting air supply equipment. Testing data for the corresponding model can be provided according to the project agreement, indicating the testing standards and conditions. filter with When the FFU fan filter unit and EFU are delivered together, the corresponding relationship between the whole machine test and the filter element test can be checked uniformly.

Clarifying the grade requirements, standard version and report form when making an inquiry will help confirm the basis for acceptance. The specific performance is subject to the testing data of the corresponding model, and no unfounded efficiency promises are made.

Aili Industrial develops and manufactures FFU, EFU, HEPA/ULPA air filters, high-efficiency air supply vents, fan boxes and other clean air equipment. Relying on motors, fans, control systems, filters and complete machine supporting capabilities, we provide selection and customization support for clean room and production equipment projects.
