Display panel production lines usually require a large clean area, a large number of FFUs, and a dense layout. In order to cover a large area, multiple FFUs are often installed spliced together to form a continuous air supply surface.
After splicing and installation, weak airflow areas may form at the boundaries between FFUs, around the lamps, at the edges of the structure, and near the return air outlets. Wind speeds in these weak areas may be lower than facility average wind speeds, but facility average wind speed measurements typically do not reflect these locations individually. If the weak zone is located above the product exposure area, particle control may be affected.
Therefore, in large-area clean areas of display panels, we must not only pay attention to the performance of a single FFU, but also pay attention to the actual airflow coverage at the splicing boundary and local areas. Aili Industrial has complete production capabilities in FFU supporting facilities in the electronics industry, and can provide FFU layout plans according to the needs of large-area clean areas. For the basic structure of the FFU machine, please refer toAili Industrial FFU fan filter unit。
The weak airflow area at the splicing boundary may come from several aspects. There is usually a frame structure on the edge of the FFU box, and there may be no air supply near the frame. If two FFUs are installed side by side, the area between the frames may form a location with low wind speed. If there are installation gaps between FFUs, weak airflow areas may also form near the gaps.
If lamps, bridges, and fire-fighting facilities occupy the ceiling space, there may not be FFU coverage around them, forming a local weak area. Weak areas may also develop due to placement discontinuities around structural edges, walls and columns. If the airflow is improperly organized near the return air outlet, the wind speed may be low or the airflow direction may be turbulent.
These weak areas may not necessarily be shown in large-area measurements and need to be confirmed through local measurement points.
To reduce the weak areas of splicing boundaries, start with layout coordination. The FFU arrangement should be as continuous as possible to avoid unnecessary gaps. If the ceiling module and FFU size do not exactly match, you can choose FFU of different sizes to fill the gap. For example using small size FFU or ultra-thin FFU between standard FFU.
The location of lighting fixtures and fire protection facilities should be coordinated with the FFU layout as much as possible. Recessed lamps or narrow-body lamps can be used to reduce the occupation of the air supply surface. If the lamp cannot be avoided, the FFU position can be adjusted around it to make the air supply surface as continuous as possible.
For the edges of the structure and near the columns, the FFU spacing can be adjusted or local air supply can be increased according to the actual situation. If space is limited, you can refer toSmall size EFU equipment fan filter unit andThe ultra-thin FFU understands compact layout solutions.
To verify the airflow at the splicing boundary, targeted measurement points need to be set. The measuring points should not only be arranged at the center of the FFU, but also cover the boundaries between FFUs, the periphery of the lamps, the edges of the structure and near the return air outlet. The height of the measuring point should be consistent with the exposed position of the product, rather than just measuring the wind surface.
Measurements include wind speed and airflow direction. Wind speed measurements can confirm the location and extent of weak areas. Observation of the airflow direction can confirm whether there is backflow or lateral interference in the weak area.
If a weak area is found, the location can be marked and the cause analyzed. The reason may be that the spacing between FFU is too large, the lamp is blocked, the structure is blocked, or the return air path is affected.
After discovering weak areas, you can adjust them in several directions. Adjust the FFU position or spacing to make the air supply surface more continuous. Add small FFUs near weak areas or adjust the air supply direction. Adjust the position of lighting fixtures or fire-fighting facilities to reduce the occupation of the air supply surface. Optimize the return air path and improve local airflow. If the weak area is not in the critical area, it can be evaluated whether it affects the process requirements.
After adjustment, the wind speed and airflow at the weak area should be re-measured to confirm the improvement effect. For large clean areas, adjustments may need to be made in separate areas to avoid affecting other areas.
For large clean areas, the group control system can help with zone adjustment. If the wind speed in some areas is low, the FFU speed in that area can be appropriately increased. If the wind speed is too high in some areas, it can be reduced appropriately. Zoning control can reduce local weak areas while avoiding overall excessive air supply.
Regarding the partition adjustment of the group control system, please refer toFFU/EFU group control touch screen controller andFFU computer group control system understands the control scheme. Aili Industrial has complete production capabilities in FFU complete machines and control systems, and can provide configuration solutions according to the needs of large-scale clean areas.
In the FFU layout stage of the large-area clean area of the display panel, it is recommended to confirm the following with the FFU manufacturer and designer: clean area area and number of FFU; ceiling module and layout; location of lamps, fire protection and bridges; splicing boundaries and possible weak zone locations; measuring point arrangement and measurement method; target wind speed and allowable deviation; whether zoning control is required; adjustment and verification methods.

In the large clean area of the display panel, attention needs to be paid to the weak airflow areas near the FFU splicing boundary, around the lamps, at the edge of the structure, and near the return air outlet. The average wind speed of the equipment meets the standard, which does not mean that these locations are fully covered. Through layout coordination, measurement point setting, area adjustment and zoning control, the impact of weak areas can be reduced.
