What should I prepare before installing the fan box? Confirm item by item according to drawings, electrical and maintenance

Direct answer: The preparation work before the installation of the fan box does not start until the equipment arrives at the site. From drawing confirmation, foundation construction, air duct reservation to electrical pre-embedding, every link may affect whether the installation can proceed smoothly. After arrival, if it is found that the direction of the air outlet is wrong, the access door cannot be opened, or the control cabinet is not located adequately, the rework cost will increase exponentially. Divide the preparation work into four stages before arrival, after unpacking, during installation, and before powering on, and check them one by one, which saves time than temporarily dealing with on-site problems.

Aili Industry isIn the delivery of fan box projects, the equipment diagram, basic conditions and interface directions are usually confirmed before shipment to reduce coordination problems during the on-site installation stage.

Before arrival: drawings and site must be aligned in advance

Before the equipment arrives, at least three confirmations should be completed: whether the equipment drawing is consistent with the site conditions, whether the foundation and reserved hole positions are constructed according to the drawing, and whether the hoisting and transportation paths are smooth.

Refer to the equipment diagram to confirm the air inlet and outlet direction, flange size, mounting hole position, foundation load and access door direction. Beams, bridges, and fire-fighting pipelines may occupy the reserved space. Especially when the motor needs to be extracted or parts removed, the outer dimensions of the box alone are not enough. Some projects do not reserve enough lifting holes during the civil construction stage. After the equipment arrives at the site, the wall can only be demolished or a smaller model can be used, which is very costly.

Foundation construction and maintenance should be completed before the equipment arrives, and the location and elevation of embedded parts should be checked according to the drawing. The installation location and load-bearing requirements of the shock absorber or shock pad should also be confirmed in advance. If the equipment needs to be installed on the floor, it is also necessary to check whether the floor bearing meets the operating weight and dynamic load requirements.

After unboxing: Check before proceeding

After the equipment arrives at the site, do not rush to hoist it first. After unpacking, check whether the nameplate information is consistent with the order contract, including model, air volume, external static pressure, power supply, speed and accessory list. Check the appearance of the box for transportation damage, whether the impeller rotates flexibly, and whether there is any friction or abnormal noise.

The accompanying information should include equipment diagrams, electrical diagrams, wiring instructions, controller instructions and certificates. Without this information, there will be a lack of basis for later wiring and debugging. If the project adopts a DC speed control solution, it is also necessary to confirm whether the speed control signal type, terminal definition and driver installation position are consistent with the drawings.

Problems found during unpacking inspection should be resolved before lifting. Once the equipment is in place, it becomes more difficult and costly to replace or adjust.

Under installation: air duct, vibration reduction and maintenance space

When connecting air ducts, the soft connections should not be tightened or squeezed, and the installation direction and force of the shock absorbers should comply with the design. If the air duct flange and the equipment flange are forcibly aligned, additional stress will be generated on the box, which may cause box deformation or weld cracking during long-term operation. The weight of the air duct should not be borne by the fan box, and separate supports and hangers should be provided.

Access space is the most easily overlooked item in installation. Just because the equipment can be placed in the computer room does not mean it can be maintained. The access door cannot be opened, the motor cannot be pulled out, and the filter cannot be replaced, which are all common problems. The opening range of the door fan, the extraction length of the components, the operating position of the personnel and the disassembly and assembly range of the soft connection of the air duct should be drawn respectively. For hoisting projects, the transportation path and lifting points should also be checked. Do not wait until the crew arrives to discover that there is insufficient turning or lifting space.

If the end of the system is configuredFor HEPA/ULPA high-efficiency filters , the replacement path and operating space of the filter must also be considered. Filters need to be replaced regularly during operation, and if they are blocked by air ducts or equipment, subsequent maintenance will be difficult. When the process requirements are higher, it can be evaluatedDoes the ULPA ultra-high efficiency filter meet the requirements?

Before powering on: Electrical and control items must be confirmed item by item

The electrical end checks the supply voltage, frequency, grounding, control signals and protection devices. Before turning on the power, check whether there are any packaging objects, bolts or other objects left around the impeller. Manually turn the wheel to confirm that the impeller rotates flexibly without friction or jamming.

The terminal definition of control signals should be consistent with the electrical diagram. The wiring methods of analog, PWM or communication control are different. Wrong connection may cause the device to not operate or operate abnormally. If the project requires status reading by the building control system, it should also be confirmed whether the operating feedback and fault feedback are independent signals or obtained through communication.

The disconnection handling method needs to be confirmed in advance. After the analog signal is disconnected, the drive may automatically speed up, slow down or stop. Different models have different default behaviors. If the system has minimum air supply requirements, it should not shut down after disconnection, but should be maintained at a safe preset speed.

Baseline data should be left during trial operation

Record the current, air volume, inlet and outlet pressure, vibration or abnormal sound during the first operation, and indicate the status of the valve and filter section. If there is friction or abnormal vibration in the impeller during trial operation, the machine should be stopped to find out the cause, and the operation cannot be continued by just increasing or decreasing the speed.

Only after the baseline measurement is completed will comparable data be available for subsequent maintenance. If the equipment runs for a period of time and the same command occurs but the air volume decreases, this baseline can help distinguish control failures, rising system resistance and air duct leakage.

Pre-installation checklist

A complete pre-installation preparation checklist should at least include:

  • Check equipment drawings with site conditions

  • Confirmation of foundation and embedded parts location

  • Lifting and transport route confirmation

  • Verification of nameplate information and accessory list

  • Appearance and impeller rotation inspection

  • Random data integrity confirmation

  • Air duct soft connection and support and hanger preparation

  • Shock absorber installation position and force confirmation

  • Confirmation of access door and component extraction space

  • Power, ground and control signal confirmation

  • Clean around the impeller before powering on

  • Trial operation baseline data record

Aili Industry isIn the fan box project, system joint debugging can be reduced by confirming the supply drawings and electrical interfaces one by one before doing system joint debugging, which can reduce the risk of misjudgment of on-site pipeline problems as equipment failures. Specific structure and configuration options can be found inIt is confirmed in the fan box product catalog that non-standard projects should provide equipment or machine room drawings, and then shape them based on the determined working points and on-site interfaces.

Aili Industrial develops and manufactures FFU, EFU, HEPA/ULPA air filters, high-efficiency air supply vents, fan boxes and other clean air equipment. Relying on motors, fans, control systems, filters and complete machine supporting capabilities, we provide selection and customization support for clean room and production equipment projects.
