What parameters need to be provided for chemical filter inquiry?

Inquiries for chemical filters are different from ordinary particle filters.

Write down the size, grade, and air volume of the particle filter, and you can basically get a quote. Chemical filters won't do. Two devices of the same size and air volume may have completely different media due to different target gases, and the prices will vary greatly. If you just write 'I need a chemical filter', the supplier will not be able to determine what media should be used, and the quotations will not be comparable.

The parameters provided during the inquiry should cover at least four categories: pollution characteristics, system conditions, installation interfaces, and delivery requirements. Each item is explained below.

First describe the pollution and purpose

This is the core information for chemical filter inquiries.

What is the target gas? Is it acid gas, alkaline gas, organic vapor, or a mixture of ingredients? It is best to be specific about the name of the gas, such as sulfur dioxide, ammonia, toluene, and formaldehyde. If you only know 'there is an odor' or 'VOC needs to be processed', detection data is very important. For specific identification methods, please refer to whether to do air sampling before choosing a chemical filter . Discuss

Inlet concentration range. Is it a regular concentration or a high concentration? Is the concentration stable or fluctuating? Are there any peak periods? The concentration range directly affects the media dosage and replacement cycle.

What are the conservation goals? Is it equipment anti-corrosion, personnel health, process protection or odor removal? What are the export concentration requirements? Different detection methods and media selections correspond to different targets. For specific principles, please refer to Discussion on why chemical filters should be selected according to target gases .

Source and location of contamination. Is it brought in by fresh air from outside, released by indoor equipment, or generated by the process? The source determines where the filter section should be installed. Please refer to the specific location selection which air handling systems are appropriate for chemical filters to be installed in . Discussion of

Give actual system conditions

With contamination information, system conditions must also be stated.

Handle air volume. What is the air volume passing through the chemical filtration section? Is it the total air volume of the system or the air volume of a single unit? Series or parallel? Please refer to the specific caliber Discussion on whether the chemical filter air volume should be selected based on the total air volume of the system or the air volume of a single unit .

Temperature and humidity range. Operating temperature, relative humidity, is there any risk of condensation? Some chemical media are sensitive to humidity, and high temperature and high humidity environments may affect capacity and life. For specific impacts, please refer to Discussion of how long chemical filters last .

Available resistance. How much margin does the system fan have? What is the initial resistance and final resistance range allowed for the chemical filtration section? If there is insufficient margin, you may need to choose a lower resistance option or adjust the fan. For specific calculations, please refer to Discussion of how much the added resistance of the chemical filter will increase the fan's electricity consumption .

mode of operation. Continuous operation or intermittent operation? How many hours does it run per day? The running time affects the cumulative load and replacement cycle.

Check size and interface

The chemical filtration section must be installed into the existing system, and interface matching is critical.

Installation space. What are the available heights, depths, widths? Is it restricted? If space is tight, low-profile or custom construction may be required. For specific configuration, please refer to Discussion of how to determine configuration when chemical filter thickness is limited .

Mounting frame size. Net opening size, sealing surface position, pressing method, disassembly and assembly path. These should correspond to the outer frame and sealing structure of the chemical filtration section. For specific measurement methods, please refer to Discussion of what dimensions should be covered in chemical filtration retrofit field measurements .

Airflow direction. From which side does air enter and from which side does air exit? Are there any turns in the air path inside the equipment? For specific confirmation methods, please refer to Chemical filter airflow arrow unclear discussion on how to confirm.

Connection method. The form and size of flange, air duct, and box interfaces. If the new filter section changes the direction of the air duct, the interface may need to be adjusted.

Agreed performance and delivery scope

Finally, write down the performance requirements and deliverables clearly.

Testing requirements. What testing information is required? Efficiency, capacity, penetration data of target gas? What are the detection methods and conditions? For specific reporting requirements, please refer to Discussion of why chemical filter performance reports list specific target gases .

Report form. Is it a channel-by-station report or a batch report? Is number correspondence required? These affect quotations and lead times.

Spare parts and maintenance. Do you need spare filter media? Replacement cycle requirements? Maintenance requirements? For specific life assessment, please refer to Discussion of how long chemical filters last .

Acceptance method. How to verify on site? Is export concentration testing done? How to set the sampling point? For specific methods, please refer to Discussion of sampling points for chemical filter performance verification .

Project judgment example

A certain project requires the purchase of a chemical filter. When asking for a quote, it only stated 'size 600×600, air volume 2000, acid gas to be processed'.

The supplier responded with two options, with large price differences. The project team inquired about the reasons for the differences and found that the two plans targeted different types of acid gases, as well as different media configurations and capacities. Because the inquiry did not specify what kind of acidic gas it is, what the inlet concentration is, and what the outlet requirements are, the supplier can only understand the quotation based on routine.

After supplementing the parameters, we re-inquired. Both plans were quoted according to the same target conditions. The price difference was clearly explained, and the project team was able to choose based on actual needs.

This case illustrates: the more complete the inquiry parameters are, the more comparable the quotations will be, and the more evidence-based subsequent acceptance will be. involving When selecting a chemical filter product series , it is recommended that the pollution characteristics, system conditions, interface dimensions and delivery requirements be provided to the supplier for verification.
