Chemical filters are not a direct replacement for dehumidification equipment. It is mainly aimed at matching gases, while humidity control involves moisture load and air treatment process. The interaction between individual media and moisture does not mean stable room dehumidification capability. These two things are responsible for different links in the air-conditioning system, and it is easy to make mistakes when talking about them together.
Dehumidification equipment handles the water vapor load in the air, measured in moisture content or relative humidity, and is designed based on personnel, fresh air, process moisture dissipation, and envelope penetration. Chemical filters deal with molecular-level pollutant gases, measured in concentration and penetration capacity, and designed based on target composition, air volume, and outlet limits. One is calculated in kilograms of water or grams of water, and the other is calculated in ppm or ppb. The design logic, acceptance method and operation judgment are all different. Treating the chemical filtration section as a means of dehumidification is equivalent to using gas capacity indicators to answer humidity questions, and the two do not match up.
Some chemical filter materials do interact with moisture in the air, but this is different from stable dehumidification. The capacity of some adsorption media decreases under high humidity, some reactive media are sensitive to humidity, and some materials will change their appearance and resistance after absorbing moisture. What these phenomena mean is that 'humidity will affect the filter material', not 'the filter material can control humidity'. Dehumidification equipment needs to operate continuously according to the moisture load, measure the amount of water removed, and maintain the room humidity within the design range. The chemical filter section does not have these functions and should not undertake such tasks.
In air conditioning boxes, the relationship between humidity and chemical filtration is more accurately described as mutual influence. High humidity will change the media state and penetration behavior, and the presence of chemical filter sections may affect local airflow and temperature and humidity distribution. Droplet entrainment after the surface cooler, local high humidity near the humidification section, and humidity retention in the box during shutdown may all put the filter section in an unfavorable environment. Therefore, when arranging the chemical filter section, it is necessary to confirm that the temperature and humidity at this location fall within the applicable range of the medium, and retain the water retaining and drainage structures. Regarding the layout requirements for condensation water protection, please refer toHow to prevent condensed water from contacting the filter material in the chemical filtration section of the air-conditioning box?。
In MAU or clean air conditioning systems, dehumidification and chemical filtration are usually undertaken by different functional sections. The surface cooling section is responsible for cooling and dehumidification, and is equipped with a runner or special dehumidification equipment if necessary; the chemical filtration section is responsible for the target gas, and the location should avoid high humidity areas and droplet entrainment. If the project has both excessive humidity and gas pollution problems, the moisture load and gas load should be calculated separately, and then the location and capacity of each functional section should be determined. It is not cost-effective to use a chemical filtration section to 'incidentally' solve the humidity problem, or to sacrifice the environmental conditions of the chemical filtration section for dehumidification. For issues involving MAU function segment configuration, please refer toHow to check the residual pressure outside the machine after MAU adds a chemical filtration section?。
For MAU projects where humidity and gas coexist, we generally recommend that customers calculate the moisture load and gas load separately, and then determine the location of each functional section. Aili Industry can provide selection packages for box-type, flat-plate and V-type chemical filtration products. For box-type MAU packages, please refer toMAU box type chemical filter , product series can be viewedChemical filter product range . The V-shaped structure provides a larger filtration area in the same box space, helping to reduce surface speed, but the location of the filter section should still avoid high-humidity areas and droplet entrainment. Equipment-side applications can adopt the form of chemical filtration FFU, integrating chemical adsorption layer and HEPA/ULPA particle filtration. The manufacturing end covers motors, fans, control systems, sheet metal and complete machine assembly. The position of the filter section, box sealing and drainage structure can be checked together during the matching stage. The specific gas effect, humidity applicable conditions and replacement cycle still need to be verified based on the corresponding configuration data and on-site working conditions. The actual results are subject to on-site leak detection and gas detection results.
Can a chemical filter reduce the humidity a bit?
Some media may absorb moisture, but this is not a stable and controllable dehumidification capability. Room humidity control should be undertaken by dehumidification equipment, and the chemical filter section should be configured according to the gas target.
Can chemical filters still be used in high humidity environments?
It is necessary to confirm the applicable humidity range of the medium and the local environment of the filter section. High humidity may affect capacity and structural status, and should be judged based on product information and site conditions.
Can Aili Industrial help check the MAU function segment configuration?
The chemical filter section location and air supply conditions can be checked based on moisture load, gas target and box space. The specific plan needs to be confirmed based on product data and on-site working conditions.
