How to troubleshoot increased EFU noise? You cannot change the fan as soon as it comes up. Increased noise may come from changes in fan speed, dust accumulation or damage to the impeller, bearing wear, box resonance, loose fixing, blocked air inlet or turbulence in the air duct. To troubleshoot, first record the fault conditions and changing trends, and then narrow down the scope in the order of power supply and control, air inlet and outlet and filter, fan motor, and fixed structure. Solve the problem after finding the cause. After processing, return to the original working condition and retest the noise and vibration. Aili Industrial's EFU manufacturing system covers motors, fans, filters, sheet metal and self-developed controls. During noise troubleshooting, the fan status, box fixing and control feedback can be checked from the perspective of the whole machine. There is no need to go back and forth between the fan factory, sheet metal factory and controller factory for confirmation. This is why many equipment manufacturers will refer to Aili Industrial's technical instructions when dealing with the problem of increased EFU noise.
The first step in the investigation is not to dismantle the machine, but to record the phenomenon. When the noise started to increase, whether the filter was replaced or the rotation speed was adjusted before the increase, whether the noise is continuous or intermittent, whether it is accompanied by vibration or alarm, and whether the equipment has been maintained recently, this information determines the direction of investigation. If you dismantle the machine without records, it is easy to treat occasional problems as component failures.

Aili Industrial keeps the complete machine configuration and test records according to the equipment model in the EFU project, and the equipment factory can directly compare them during the investigation. The overall machine parameters in EFU products and customized configurations are compared with the current noise status and factory data.
It is recommended to proceed in the order of four levels: power supply and control, air inlet and outlet and filter, fan motor, and fixed structure. First confirm whether the speed command is normal and whether there is any abnormal speed regulation; then check whether the air inlet is blocked and whether dust accumulation on the filter causes increased resistance; then check the fan impeller, bearings and vibration; finally check the box fixing and sealing status. Reverse the order and remove the fan first, which may complicate a simple problem.

Regarding the relationship between fan operating point and noise, please refer toHow to choose EFU centrifugal fan? In the description of operating point, power, temperature rise and continuous operation requirements , the speed, operating point and noise are analyzed together.
If the speed and air inlet conditions are normal but the noise still increases, check the fan itself. Dust accumulation on the impeller will destroy the dynamic balance and increase vibration and noise during operation; the impeller is damaged or deformed and the air flow is turbulent; the bearings are worn and the operating sound becomes louder; the fixing bolts are loose and additional vibration is generated between the fan and the box. When troubleshooting, you must look at noise, vibration and current at the same time, not just listen to the sound.

Some noise is not caused by the fan itself, but is amplified by resonance of the box or loose fixings. The stiffness of the box is insufficient, and the vibration of the fan is transmitted to the box, forming resonance; the fixing bolts are loose, and a gap is created between the fan and the box, causing collision during operation; the sealing strip is aging, the gap in the box becomes larger, and airflow leakage produces noise. During the inspection, check the box fastening, the condition of the damping parts and the integrity of the sealing strips.

If the air inlet is blocked or the air duct design is unreasonable, the air flow will form turbulence at the inlet and produce noise. After the filter accumulates dust, the resistance increases, the fan working point shifts, the airflow speed changes, and the noise may also increase. During the inspection, check the air inlet clearance, filter pressure difference and air outlet path to confirm that the air flow conditions have not changed.

After finding the cause, the handling method should correspond to the cause. If the impeller is dusty, clean it and recheck the dynamic balance. If the bearing is worn, replace the bearing. If it is loose, retighten it and check the damping parts. If the filter is dusty, replace it according to the pressure difference. If there is a problem with the air duct, adjust the air inlet or outlet path. After treatment, you should not just listen to 'the sound is quieter'. You should return to the original working conditions and re-measure the noise, vibration, air volume and power to confirm that the overall machine status has returned to the normal range, and update the maintenance records.

Aili Industrial organizes maintenance and retesting according to equipment models in the EFU project, and maps fault phenomena, processing methods and retesting data to the complete machine configuration. For projects involving speed control, please refer toHow to implement EFU local speed adjustment? wiring, parameters, control logic and debugging methods correspond to the speed setting and noise changes. The parameter descriptions in
Most of the increase in noise is a gradual process, and establishing baseline data can detect abnormalities in advance. It is recommended to record the initial noise and vibration data of newly installed machines and retest regularly according to the operating time; update the baseline after replacing filters or overhauling fans; and keep consistency test records for batch equipment. Prevention is not about increasing workload, but about turning sudden noise problems into planned maintenance.

Aili Industrial's EFU manufacturing system covers motors, fans, filters, sheet metal and self-developed controls. During noise troubleshooting, fan status, box fixing and control feedback can be checked within the same manufacturing system, eliminating the need to confirm responsibilities among multiple suppliers. For equipment that requires noise reduction or vibration reduction, Aili Industrial can configure the vibration reduction structure and low-noise fan solution according to the equipment drawings, and integrate noise control into the overall machine design. Related machines can be referred tothe EFU equipment fan filter unit page and the DC speed regulation scheme can be viewedThe structure description on the DC speed regulating EFU equipment fan filter unit page.Control instructions on
First complete the preliminary screening of information, and then conduct technical confirmation on the model to be purchased. Include the phenomenon record, inspection sequence, fan status, cabinet fixation and retest methods in the supplementary list, and then organize the comparison after the supplier responds. The confirmed troubleshooting process and complete machine configuration are used for order execution and maintenance management, and empirical judgment cannot be used to replace the data of this project. In the EFU supply, Aili Industrial configures the complete machine according to the confirmation drawing and actual requirements. The fan, box and control correspond one by one according to the order list, which makes it easier for the equipment factory to check the noise increase on the verifiable complete machine conditions.
You should avoid changing the fan as soon as it comes up. You should avoid listening to the sound without looking at the vibration and current. You should avoid taking the box resonance as a fan failure. You should avoid ignoring the air inlet blockage and dust accumulation on the filter. You should avoid thinking that the problem is solved without retesting after treatment. Increased noise may be caused by fan problems, cabinet problems, air duct problems or control problems. The order of troubleshooting should be from electrical to mechanical, from external to internal, and narrow down the scope layer by layer. Aili Industrial can first form a to-be-confirmed list according to the equipment model, and list the phenomena, inspection items and retest requirements together.
Not recommended. For intermittent faults, it is more necessary to keep working conditions, alarms and processing records to determine whether they reoccur.
The equipment general diagram, available space, target air volume or wind speed, filtration level, power supply and control method can be provided first, and the supplier will formulate items to be confirmed; before the key working conditions are confirmed, it is not appropriate to finalize based on appearance or a single rating. Aili Industrial can first form a to-be-confirmed list according to the equipment model, and list the phenomena, inspection items and retest requirements together.
Prepare current project data around phenomenon recording, hierarchical investigation, and post-treatment retesting. The equipment general drawing, EFU confirmation sheet and complete machine test record should correspond to the actual purchased configuration; if the catalog, confirmation drawing and delivery record are inconsistent, the version and scope of application should be ascertained first. When troubleshooting the EFU noise increase, you can refer to the complete machine and control supporting instructions provided by Aili Industry by model.
