What does the FFU static pressure parameter represent? Why should we pay attention when selecting?

Direct answer: FFU static pressure reflects the fan's ability to push air through the filter and related structural resistance. When selecting, you should look at the static pressure that can be provided at the target air volume , and confirm the filter, rotation speed and test conditions corresponding to this value. A single number of 'static pressure Pa' does not mean that the FFU will be able to achieve the design air volume after installation.

What is the relationship between static pressure and air volume?

The air volume indicates how much air is sent per unit time; the static pressure indicates how much air flow resistance the fan can overcome at this air volume. The two jointly determine the actual working point of FFU.

For example, the project stipulates the air supply volume, but the configured filter, box air inlet conditions and installation method will all cause resistance. If the fan provides insufficient static pressure at the target air volume, the actual air supply volume may be lower than expected. Therefore, when comparing FFU performance, the supplier should be asked to provide air volume and static pressure data under the same operating conditions , and check the overall machine configuration instead of comparing the two maximum values separately.

Why do I need to re-check the static pressure after changing the filter?

A HEPA or ULPA filter creates a pressure difference as air passes through it. As the structure, efficiency level, size and usage of the filter change, the resistance may also change. After replacing the filter, even if the fan, motor and box remain unchanged, the working point of the FFU may still change.

chooseWhen using a HEPA/ULPA filter , in addition to checking the filtration requirements, you should also confirm its resistance at the target air volume and whether the FFU can maintain the air supply volume required by the project under this configuration. For long-term operation projects, the performance verification method after the filter resistance changes also needs to be clarified in the technical agreement.

When looking at the parameter table, first confirm these four things

Need confirmation

Impact on selection

Air volume corresponding to static pressure value

Determine whether it covers the design air supply volume of the project

Whether to install a filter when testing

Avoid directly mixing fan data and complete machine data

Filter model and resistance

Determine whether the test configuration is consistent with the configuration to be purchased

Power supply, speed and installation conditions

Determine whether the test conditions represent on-site operating conditions

Three common concepts should also be distinguished: FFU static pressure is used to describe the air supply capacity, filter pressure differential describes the pressure loss caused by air passing through the filter, and room pressure differential describes the pressure relationship between the clean room and adjacent areas. They affect each other, but cannot be filled in as the same parameter.

How does Aili Industry meet the static pressure requirements for FFU customization?

When the project requires non-standard sizes, specific filters or higher air supply volumes, the static pressure requirements will directly affect the matching of fans, motors, box structures and control solutions. Aili Industrial develops and produces its own motors, fans, control systems, sheet metal structures and filters. It can collaboratively adjust the entire machine configuration around the target air volume and resistance conditions, rather than just replacing a certain component.

CheckWhen using Aili Industrial FFU products , it is recommended to provide the target air volume, filter requirements, installation dimensions, air inlet space, power supply and operation mode at the same time. Aili Industrial can discuss standard or non-standard solutions based on this; the specific air volume, static pressure and configuration should be subject to the technical agreement and test conditions agreed upon by both parties.

FAQ

Is the higher the FFU static pressure, the better?
It is not advisable to judge based on the static pressure value alone. The target air volume should be confirmed first, and then the static pressure, filter configuration and operating conditions at that air volume should be compared.

The product is marked with a maximum static pressure. Can it be used directly in the design?
It cannot be applied directly. The maximum static pressure and design air volume may correspond to different operating points, and the performance data of the complete machine at the target air volume should be obtained.

If the air volume at the site is insufficient, does it mean the static pressure is insufficient?
uncertain. Filter resistance, air inlet obstruction, speed setting, installation structure and test method may all affect the results, and should be checked one by one based on on-site working conditions.
