What technical information do I need to prepare before making an inquiry for an FFU project?

Direct answer: Prepare at least the application area and cleanliness requirements, floor plan and installation drawings, target air volume or speed, filtration requirements, power supply and control conditions, estimated quantity and delivery plan. If the filter resistance, equipment inlet and return air interface and test method are known, they should also be provided. The closer the inquiry data is to actual working conditions, the easier it is to compare FFU plans and quotations. By simply saying 'how many FFUs of a certain size are needed', it is difficult for the supplier to determine which configuration of fans, motors, filters, boxes and control systems should be used, and it is also difficult for the supplier to explain whether the nominal performance can be achieved at the project site.

An inquiry package is recommended to be divided into three parts

Project goal: Describe the application scenarios of clean rooms, equipment or local clean areas; list the cleanliness level, process particle control requirements, operating time, and dust generation conditions of personnel and equipment in each area. The requirements for different areas should be stated separately.

Installation and air conditions: Provide floor plan, ceiling diagram or equipment interface diagram, marking installation dimensions, available height, air inlet and return position and maintenance direction. List the target air volume, wind speed and uniformity requirements for each area; when the system resistance is known, indicate the measurement location and conditions corresponding to the values.

Electrical, quantity and acceptance: indicate the on-site power supply, speed adjustment method, single control or group control requirements, communication interface, estimated number of units, control partition, delivery batch and expansion plan. Changing the filtration level may change the operating point of the FFU, so filtration requirements should be submitted together with the target air volume.

Similarly, the target static pressure also needs to explain its meaning: whether it is the filter resistance, the structural resistance at the equipment end, or the overall machine requirement proposed at a specific measuring point. Conditions vary and data provided by suppliers may not be directly comparable.

How to start the inquiry first when the information is incomplete?

Not all parameters have to be determined at the first communication. The project party can mark the data into three statuses: confirmed, tentative, and pending verification by the supplier , and clarify which parameters need to be finalized through prototype testing. For example, the ceiling modulus and power supply can usually be confirmed first; a singleFFU specifications , design grades and batch numbers can be further checked based on performance data and layout diagrams.

When comparing different quotes, you should check whether each plan uses the same filter, air volume test conditions and control range. If the price difference comes from configuration differences, the quality of the solution cannot be judged directly based on the unit price.
