How to determine the FFU specifications and quantity for the air volume test project?

Direct answer: First determine the required air supply volume according to the clean area, and then select an FFU of appropriate installation size that can achieve the target air volume under the specified filter and design resistance. The quantity should be checked based on the total air volume and the actual air supply layout. After the preliminary arrangement is completed, adjustments should be made through prototype and on-site air volume testing until each area meets the technical agreement requirements.

Air volume testing is an important step in verifying FFU selection, but the testing itself cannot replace the preliminary design. In clean room and equipment-side projects, the actual air volume of FFU will be affected by the filter, operating gear, installation structure and inlet and return air conditions. When determining specifications and quantities, the effective air volume under project working conditions should be used instead of directly using the maximum air volume in the product data.

Step 1: Determine the target air supply volume by region

First, clarify the cleaning objectives of each area, process dust generation, distribution of personnel and equipment, air supply range and air flow direction. The overall air supply in the room and the local air supply inside the equipment should be calculated separately, and then the total air volume, target air speed and uniformity requirements required for each area should be determined.

Providing only the room area is usually not sufficient to determine the number of FFU. For projects with the same area, the process layout and air flow organization are different, and the required air supply configuration may also be different.

Step 2: Select the specifications of a single FFU according to the test conditions

Based on the ceiling module, equipment interface and available installation height, select suitableFFU fan filter unit size. Then check its assembly specificationsHEPA or ULPA filter at design gear and target air volume.Performance data after

Technical information should describe the filter configuration, air volume, static pressure corresponding to the target air volume, power consumption and test conditions. When the filter resistance or the air inlet and outlet structure at the equipment end changes, you should re-confirm whether the specification can still achieve the design air volume.

Step 3: Check the air volume quantity and layout quantity separately

When making initial calculations based on air volume, the total air volume required in the available area ÷ the effective air volume of a single FFU under design conditions , and the result is rounded up. Then check whether the FFU covers the area that needs air supply based on the ceiling plane or the air supply position of the equipment.

If the calculated quantity meets the total air volume but cannot form appropriate airflow distribution at critical process locations, the specifications, location or quantity need to be adjusted. The final arrangement should also consider beam positions, lighting fixtures, equipment, return air channels and maintenance spaces.

Step 4: Test the correction plan with air volume

For batch projects, it is recommended to test the prototype first and record the filter model, operating gear, measuring point location, effective air outlet area and testing method. After on-site installation, measure the actual air volume, wind speed and uniformity in each area according to the technical agreement, and record the filter pressure difference and FFU operating status.

If the on-site air volume is insufficient, you should first check the test method, filter resistance, control settings, and air inlet and return conditions before deciding whether to adjust the gear, arrangement, or number of FFU. It cannot be judged that the entire FFU or the entire area has reached the standard based on the wind speed value of one measuring point.

For projects with a larger number, power supply and control zoning should also be planned in advance. When unified speed regulation and status monitoring are required, they can be combinedThe FFU group control system coordinates the operation settings of each area to facilitate subsequent debugging and maintenance.

How does Aili Industry cooperate with project verification?

Aili Industrial can combine the cleanliness target, installation size, filtration requirements, target air volume and control method to match the FFU complete machine configuration. After the project provides the floor plan, ceiling or equipment interface diagram, regional target air volume, test requirements and estimated quantity, it is easy to determine the prototype specifications first, and then confirm the batch plan through test data. The specific specifications, quantity and performance are subject to the project technical agreement and actual working conditions verification results.

Q: Can the quantity be calculated using the nominal maximum air volume of FFU?
Answer: Not recommended. The effective air volume with the specified filter, design gear and resistance conditions should be used.

Q: If the total air volume reaches the standard, is the number of FFU determined?
Answer: It is also necessary to check the air supply coverage, wind speed and uniformity at key locations, and confirm with on-site testing.

Question: The on-site air volume is insufficient, is it necessary to increase FFU?
Answer: You should first check the filter resistance, speed adjustment settings, air inlet and return conditions and measurement methods, and then determine the adjustment plan.
