What drawings are required for non-standard HEPA inquiry?

Showing a photo of the equipment and asking 'Can I make this filter element?', the reply is often 'I need more information.' This is not a shirk from the supplier, but the photos do not illustrate the assembly dimensions.

The core of non-standard inquiry is to let the supplier know what structure the new product will be installed in and what working conditions it will bear. The more complete the drawings and parameters are provided, the more accurate the quotation will be and the less subsequent rework will be.

Product outline drawings and equipment interface drawings should be separated

These two types of drawings describe different objects, and both are indispensable.

Filter outline drawing : indicate the length, width and thickness of the outer frame, the position of the effective filtering surface, the type and size of the sealing structure, the direction of air flow, and the material of the outer frame. If it is a liquid tank seal product, the location and size of the tank should also be marked.

Equipment interface diagram : Indicate the internal size of the installation opening, the location and number of pressing parts, the location of the sealing contact surface, and the maintenance direction. If there are other structural parts inside the equipment that will affect disassembly and assembly, they also need to be marked on the drawing.

Only by matching the two pictures can you confirm that the new product can be pressed and taken out after being installed. With only product drawings but no equipment drawings, the supplier cannot judge the feasibility of assembly; only with equipment drawings but no product drawings, the supplier cannot confirm how the sealing structure is designed.

For matching FFU fan filter unit or For the filter element used in the fan filter unit at the EFU equipment end , the interface on the box side also needs to be provided, because the sealing surface of the filter element matches the box body.

Performance parameters should be given together with dimensions.

Only the size is given, the supplier can only quote a structural price, and cannot confirm whether the product can meet the usage requirements.

The performance parameters that need to be provided when making an inquiry include: rated air volume or target air volume, efficiency level and applicable standards, allowable resistance range, and temperature and humidity conditions of the use environment. If the project has leak detection requirements, the detection methods and judgment standards should also be explained.

These parameters influence filter media selection, pleat density, and sealing structure design. For example, in high-humidity environments, filter materials and edge sealing adhesives with suitable moisture resistance properties need to be selected, and in high-temperature conditions, the temperature-resistant boundaries of the materials must be considered. Attach old part information when replacing old models

If you are replacing an old model that has been discontinued, information about the old filter element will be helpful to the supplier.

The information that can be provided includes: photos of the old filter element nameplate, actual measurement records of the outer frame size, photos of the sealing structure, and measurement data of the installation frame. If there are drawings or technical data of the old filter element, please provide them as well.

When the old filter element has been deformed, do not directly use the deformed size as the new product specification. The actual measured size of the installation frame should be provided at the same time, and the two should be compared and judged. If the on-site air volume and pressure difference records are retained, it can also help the supplier understand the original design working conditions.

Key points for drawing confirmation before inquiry

A sketch with lengths and widths marked can only provide a preliminary quote. Before formal production, the following needs to be confirmed:

Frame material and surface treatment, compression edge width and gasket specifications, location of liquid tank or gasket, leak detection accessibility, packaging and transportation methods. When the equipment factory and the filter element factory use different standards for the same size, they should be marked uniformly on the drawing to avoid each having different opinions.

These details may not all be determined at the inquiry stage, but the confirmation process can be agreed upon in the technical agreement. When the drawing version changes, update the version number and reconfirm to avoid inconsistency between the batch shipment and the confirmed version.
